Like every provider in this category it resells capacity from local carriers. What distinguishes Maya is which carriers: it consistently lands on the stronger partner in each market rather than the cheapest, which is why speed complaints are rare in its review pool.

Most Maya destinations are on 5G-capable partners, with 4G/LTE fallback in rural areas. In the cities we test in Europe, the US and East Asia, Maya sits at or near the top of the field for real-world throughput.

Coverage extends to at-sea and cruise-adjacent regions in select plans, which is unusual for a provider at this price level.

Buying happens on the website: choose destination, data amount and duration, pay, and the QR code plus manual installation details arrive by email within a minute or two.

Installation follows the standard flow on iPhone and Android — scan or paste, label the line, enable data roaming for the Maya line. Hotspot sharing is allowed on most plans, which makes Maya practical if you work from a laptop.

Support runs 24/7 through chat and email, and response times in our own tests were measured in minutes rather than hours. That is the main reason its Trustpilot score sits well above the category average.

Criticism, where it exists, is about the same things every eSIM gets: coverage in genuinely remote areas, and users who forget to enable data roaming after installing.
