Provider review

Holafly review

Holafly sells only unlimited plans. You pick a destination and a number of days rather than a number of gigabytes — which is either exactly what you want, or more than you need to pay.

Our verdict in short

Verdict

Holafly removes one specific anxiety — running out of data — and charges a premium for it. If you stream, video call and tether heavily, or simply cannot be bothered to estimate a data budget, it is money well spent. If you are a normal user on a one-week trip, a 5GB plan from almost anyone else costs a third as much. Check the hotspot rules for your destination before you rely on tethering.

Summary

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Every plan is unlimited — no data maths
  • Simple day-based pricing
  • Very large destination catalogue
  • Well-rated 24/7 support
  • Good for heavy streaming and video calls

Cons

  • Expensive for light and moderate users
  • Hotspot restricted or blocked on many plans
  • Fair-use throttling in some destinations
  • Data-only in most markets

Background

Who is behind Holafly?

Holafly is a Spanish travel eSIM company and one of the most heavily marketed brands in the category, with a very large customer base built on a single, easily explained product.

The entire catalogue is built around unlimited plans priced by duration and destination.

Pricing model

What unlimited actually means here

There is no gigabyte allowance to track: buy 10 days in Japan and you have data for 10 days. A fair-use policy applies in some destinations, throttling speeds after a heavy daily volume rather than cutting you off.

Because pricing is per day, the cost per day drops on longer plans but the total is high compared with fixed-data rivals. For a short trip with light use, you are paying for headroom you will not touch.

Limitations

Hotspot and one-device rules

Hotspot sharing is restricted or disabled on many Holafly unlimited plans. This is the single most common source of disappointment and the thing to verify for your destination before buying.

The eSIM is data-only in most destinations, with a local number available only in a limited set of markets.

Reputation

Support and user sentiment

Trustpilot sits around 4.4 across a very large review volume, and 24/7 support is consistently praised.

Negative reviews concentrate on price versus actual usage and on hotspot restrictions that buyers did not notice at checkout.
